In the Cage
The 1975 Genesis concert tour, was the last for Peter Gabriel, as he said he needed to be with his wife and newborn child.
At this point, Gabriel was dominating the music in writing and they needed to go their own way as well.
They were despondent, though, after hearing the news, but Phil Collins stood up and gave a rallying speech, and became the band's new lead singer, with Bil Bruford, and later, Chester Thompson, taking over on percussion in concert.
