So close, so far.
The trek to Lou's is absolutely worth it. A bona drive out of the way, this bodega has a selection that takes hours to sort through.

You'll be hard pressed to not find that obscure LP here. - Sun And Air , posted 03/31/06

One Of The Buyers Is A Moondog Fan
Lou's is my favorite record store- no doubt about it!

They got in three copies of a German Moondog CD of which only 500 exist in the entire world... and then priced them at 10 bucks! That's the kind of place it is.

They have Sun Ra on vinyl... you can find used Mohamed El Bakkar records... etc., etc., etc.

It's walking distance from the beach- you can't beat it! - MJ , posted 02/24/05

music trading
So my family sometimes gets me CD's that appear to be alright but after a few listens I can't stand them anymore... Well Lou's buys music for store credit. They really give you a good deal and who doesn't want more good music. I am also always impressed by how many independent labels that Lou's carries. - Robin , posted 02/22/05

best used cd and dvd store
lou's is an institution that people fly to san diego for. It's got a great collection of used cds...and better yet, music oriented dvds -- some of the stuff I didn't know existed! And good prices. I like to go and space out there for 2-3 hours at a time... - PKras , posted 09/13/04

good new and used selection
This place is ace. You can find music in the used section for less than a cup of your favorite tea. It is run by the most pretentious music snobs, with really awesome tattoos. I haven't actually been there for awhile, and most of the time I had a hard time finding what I wanted. Go there and tell me how things is. Oh yea, they have a great film selection also. - alana , posted 09/09/04
