all customer facing workers have strong personalities, which i guess goes with the atmosphere of the place. some are cool, some are jerks. the food is OK, but doesnt even compare to other vegetarian-mexican like rancho's cocina in OB and Point Loma. - wholesum , posted 03/25/07 |

The food here is NOT good enough to deal with the attitude of the waitstaff, managers, or owners. Hell, NO food is good enough to put up with that attitude. And speaking of attitude, the manager and one of the waitresses at this restaurant should not just be fired, but should be in court on assault and battery charges. I don't care how stressed you are, you DO NOT scream at and yell at an autistic child, NOR do you lay hands on him and shake him. And if you're the manager, you should fire the waitress on the spot, not blame the parents for having a "defective child" and order them to leave. Nor do you do this kinda crap with adults either. If you're into service beyond horrible and possible ADA violations, then go ahead. Otherwise, avoid this place until they're either closed, or the manager and waitress are fired like they deserve. My own experiences with the place? It's a sty (amazed it hasn't been shut down on health code violations), the food was lackluster at best, and the wait staff are attitude on the hoof. BEFORE I WAS A VEGETARIAN THERE MEAT ITEMS WERE AMAZING , AND NOW THAT IM VEGETARIAN ALL OF THERE VEGGIE ITEMS ARE AMAZING. THIS IS A PLACE I ALWAYS TAKE MY OUT OF TOWN FRIENDS TOO AND EVEN MY PARENTS :) I ALSO COULD EAT THERE EVERDAY. Easily the best mexican food place in San Diego (from a trendy, vegan point of view). Everything is delicious, cheap and flavorful. Do tip the staff, it's their only pay. Oh and don't forget to bevvy the Sangria. - Sun And Air , posted 03/31/06 |

I could probably eat at Pokez every day and never get sick of it. Of course, I might be the size of a heiffer after a couple months of that diet, but at least I'd be a happy heiffer. Make sure to order a sangria when you go. Fuck, just get a pitcher... It's THAT good. - Justin , posted 10/09/05 |
