My Ideal Middle Eastern Restaurant
The people at Soltan Banoo have great taste and their food is delicious, too. The mood is set the moment you walk in. The restaurant is decorated with beautiful Persian art and the benches are covered with tasteful carpets and kilim covered cushions, just like the ones they have in teahouses in Turkey and Iran. The music is always good whether it is old Iranian pop (Googoosh!) or Persian classical. I try to go on Tuesdays because I love their fesenjoon (chicken in walnut and pomegranate sauce). My husband (who is from Iran) prefers Saturdays because they have abgousht (lamb stew). My one wish is that they would serve abgousht and fesenjoon on the same day. Unlike most Persian restaurants, they have a lot of vegetarian options so if you aren't in the mood for meat, you can still get a good meal (If in the mood for a lite meal try the pomegranate soup and an order of sambosa).
